Our Privacy Commitment

GetMyIPInfo.com does not collect, store, sell or share your personal data. We are fully GDPR-friendly by design.

1. Who We Are

GetMyIPInfo.com is a free, publicly available network diagnostic and hardware testing tool. We provide services including IP geolocation lookup, WHOIS/DNS lookup, internet speed testing, and various hardware tests (keyboard, mouse, microphone, speaker, screen).

Our website is operated as an independent project. For questions, you can reach us via the contact information provided on this site.

2. What Data We Collect

We collect the minimum possible data to deliver our services:

  • IP Address: Your public IP address is detected automatically when you visit the home page. It is used only to display your geolocation data and is never stored in a database.
  • Temporary Share Tokens: If you use the "Share My Info" feature, a temporary snapshot is saved for 7 days, then automatically deleted.
  • Recent visitor list: A short in-memory list of the last 8 visitors' IPs is stored in a local flat file for display on the homepage. This resets frequently and is not linked to any identity.
  • Speed Test History: Stored only in your own browser's localStorage. We never receive this data.
  • Standard Server Logs: Our web server (Apache/Nginx) may log HTTP requests including IP, timestamp, and page visited as per standard server operation. These logs are not archived long-term.
3. What We Do NOT Collect
  • ❌ We do not collect your name, email address or any registration details.
  • ❌ We do not use cross-site tracking or behavioral advertising cookies.
  • ❌ We do not sell, rent or trade any user data to third parties.
  • ❌ We do not record microphone audio — the mic test processes sound entirely in your browser.
  • ❌ We do not use fingerprinting to build individual user profiles.
4. Cookies

We use minimal cookies:

  • Theme preference (gmip_theme): Saved in localStorage to remember your dark/light mode choice. Not a cookie — stays only in your browser.
  • Google AdSense: We display Google ads to fund this free service. Google may set advertising cookies. You can control these at adssettings.google.com.

You can disable or clear cookies at any time through your browser settings.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to deliver our tools:

  • ip-api.com — IP geolocation data. Your IP may be sent to their servers to resolve location. They operate under their own privacy policy.
  • Google AdSense — Serves advertisements. Google may personalize ads using cookies. You can opt out at google.com/settings/ads.
  • Leaflet.js — Map display. Map tiles are fetched from OpenStreetMap servers.
  • Google Fonts — Loads web fonts from Google's CDN, which may log your IP.
6. GDPR — Your Rights (EU Residents)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • Right to Access: You can request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"): You may request deletion of any personal data stored by us. Since we don't store identifiable personal data, there is typically nothing to delete.
  • Right to Rectification: You can request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Right to Restrict Processing: You may ask us to limit how we use your data.
  • Right to Data Portability: You can request a machine-readable copy of your data.
  • Right to Object: You may object to processing of your data based on our legitimate interests.
  • Right to Withdraw Consent: Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.

Since we do not collect or store personally identifiable information, most GDPR rights are satisfied by default. For any GDPR-related requests, please contact us.

⚖️ Legal basis for processing: The processing of your IP address is based on our legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in providing the services you explicitly requested by visiting our site.

7. CCPA — California Residents

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have the right to:

  • Know what personal data we collect and how it is used.
  • Request deletion of personal data.
  • Opt out of the sale of personal data.

We do not sell personal data. If you have questions, contact us via the details below.

8. Data Retention

Share links expire automatically after 7 days. The recent visitor list resets with server restarts and holds no more than 8 entries at a time. Server access logs are typically retained for a maximum of 30 days in line with standard hosting provider practices.

9. Security

Our site uses HTTPS/TLS encryption for all traffic. We follow industry best-practices for securing our server and application. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children's Privacy

GetMyIPInfo.com is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
